An install day goes as well as the truck was loaded. Christmas Light Installer Supplies stocks the parts a crew needs on the roof and at the outlet: C9 installation kits, socket wire, LED C9 bulbs, replacement sockets, clips for each roof surface, slide-on plugs, stakes and photocell timers. Kits for the job, parts for the truck

Many crews order a C9 installation kit per customer, sized to the measured footage, and keep loose parts on the truck to cover the differences between a measurement and the roof. Kits come in 250, 500, 1,000, 2,000 and 4,000 ft. at 12 in. and 15 in. spacing, each with socket wire, LED C9 bulbs, plugs and clips. Loose parts cover extra corners, a gable that measured short, or a surface the kit's clips don't fit.

Clips for each surface

Roofs rarely use a single clip type. Keep a pack of each on the truck:

  • All-in-one clips for shingles and gutters.
  • C9 O-clips for gripping the wire on gutter lips and edges.
  • Shingle tabs for sliding under shingle edges.
  • Ridge clips for peaks.
  • Tile and extended fascia clips for tile roofs and deep fascia boards.
  • Magnet clips for metal fascia, awnings and canopies.
  • 8 in. light stakes for walkways and bed edges.

All of these are in clips and mounting.

Finishing and powering runs

Each cut run takes a male plug at the power end and a female plug where the next run connects. Slide-on plugs clamp onto cut socket wire or lamp cord without stripping. Lamp cord extends leads back to the outlet, and a photocell timer on each circuit switches the display at dusk. These are in plugs, cord and timers.

Fixing on the spot

A crushed socket or a dark bulb found during testing is a five-minute fix with the right part on hand. Replacement sockets swap in on the wire, and a 25-pack of bulbs in each color keeps a re-lamp matched to the run.

Ordering for a week of installs

Crews running several installs a day usually order once for the week's route: one kit per measured customer, plus cases of the clips, plugs and bulbs the spares bin uses up first. Because every order ships the same day with a short top-up order midweek is practical when a job turns up a surface or length the measurement missed.

Shipping and returns

Shipping is free on all orders within the US, with free shipping on $500+ and no added fees. Unused product in its original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery, so leftover packs from a season can go back.

The install-day checklist

Most lost time on an install day comes from something missing: a clip type for a surface nobody noted, a plug count that ran short, a tester left at the shop. A written checklist, run the evening before and again at the truck in the morning, closes most of those gaps. This one is built for a C9 roofline crew and splits into tools, job parts, truck spares and the end-of-day routine.

Access and safety

  • Extension ladder sized to the tallest eave on the day's route, with a standoff for gutters.
  • Step ladder for porches, entries and low eaves.
  • Ladder levelers or leg extensions for sloped ground.
  • Fall protection for steep or two-story roofs, as your safety plan requires.
  • Gloves, headlamps for late-afternoon testing, and cones for driveways on commercial sites.

Hand tools

  • Flush cutters or wire cutters for cutting socket wire square between sockets.
  • Tape measure and a measuring wheel for confirming lengths before cutting.
  • Outlet and GFCI tester, plus a non-contact voltage tester.
  • A short test lead with a male plug for checking runs on the ground.
  • Marker, tape and tags for labeling each run by elevation and edge.
  • Bins or buckets for each crew member: one for clips, one for bulbs.

Job parts, boxed per customer

Pull each customer's material the day before and box it with the job sheet on top:

  • The installation kit or the cut wire for the measured footage, with the spacing written on the box.
  • Bulbs to match the socket count, in the color on the job sheet.
  • Clips by surface: all-in-one or O-clips for gutters, shingle tabs for shingle edges, ridge clips for peaks, magnet clips for metal.
  • One male and one female plug per planned run.
  • Stakes for any walkways, one per socket.
  • A photocell timer for each circuit.

Truck spares, separate from job boxes

Keep a spares bin that job boxes never draw from, so one short job doesn't strip the next one:

On site

  1. Walk the job. Compare the roof to the job sheet. Note any surface or length that doesn't match before cutting.
  2. Test the outlets. Check each outlet and its GFCI before running anything to it.
  3. Test on the ground. Lay out each run under its edge, install bulbs and plug it in. Fix dark sections here.
  4. Mount from the power end. Start at the end nearest the outlet so the male plug reaches.
  5. Label as you go. Tag each run with its elevation and edge. Takedown and next season's install both go faster.
  6. Set and aim the timer. Program the on-hours and face the photocell toward open sky.
  7. Light check at dusk. If the schedule allows, confirm the display switches on before leaving the area.

End of day

  • Write down every spare used and restock the spares bin before the next morning.
  • Note any job that needed a part outside its box, so the next measurement records it.
  • Return unused job material to the shelf and recount. Bulbs bought by the 500-bulb case run $0.638 each.

Every order ships the same day with free shipping and so restocking the spares bin after a long day doesn't have to wait for a large order.

Questions

What spare parts should ride on the truck for every install?

A pack of each clip type, male and female plugs, a pack of replacement sockets, a 25-pack of each bulb color you install and a partial spool of socket wire. That covers most differences between the measurement and the roof.

Should each job get its own kit?

Many crews order one kit per customer, sized to the measured footage, so each job's material is boxed separately. Loose parts on the truck cover the extras.

How do I test a run before it goes on the roof?

Lay it out on the ground under the edge it's going on, install the bulbs and plug it in. A dark section on the ground is a two-minute fix; on the roof it's a ladder trip.

What do I need to finish a run at a corner?

Cut the wire between sockets, close a female plug on the end if the next run connects there, and start the next run with a male plug. Keep the plug connection off the roof surface with a drip loop below it.

Do you carry clips for metal roofs and awnings?

Yes. Magnet clips for C7 and C9 sockets hold to steel fascia, awnings and canopies, in 100-packs and 2,000-clip cases.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is free on all orders to the contiguous United States, with no order minimum.

When will my order ship?

Every order ships the same day it's placed, whatever time you order. There's no cutoff.

What's in a C9 installation kit?

Kits combine C9 socket wire at the listed length and spacing with LED C9 bulbs to fill the sockets, slide-on plugs to finish the runs and clips to mount them. The options list on each kit shows the bulb colors and clip mix available.

Which clip do I need?

All-in-one clips fit shingles and gutters. Ridge clips mount along roof peaks. Tile and extended fascia clips are for tile roofs and deep fascia boards. Magnet clips hold to metal surfaces, and light stakes place C9 or C7 bulbs along walkways and beds.

Can I return items I don't use?

Yes. Unused, uninstalled product in its original, intact packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Request the return before shipping anything back.
